Magic & Sorcery for Beginners with me (Part II).

Sorcery for Beginners II

For those who wonder this.

Hugs to you who wander here, through this tiny and prosperous virtual corner that does not stop growing. Last week I published the first part of this series (CLICK HERE TO READ IT), and I promised to share the second part this week with three very simple rituals that I personally suggest and invite all my teachers/followers to do.

While these are very simple rituals, they fulfill the necessary purpose for each and every one of the practitioners along the way. Also, here I will share some other tips that I suggest to my followers, readers, and magicians in general.

In this post you will find:

  • Three Essential Rituals for new magicians.
  • Information about online stores and my recommendations.

  • The first three rituals.

Here I put the rituals that I personally suggest everyone perform when they are beginning in magic and sorcery. Combining here two important elements that many more advanced practitioners forget to teach, intention and purpose.

  • The new moon ritual.

The first night of the nearest new moon, light a white candle and an incense stick of your favorite herbal or floral fragrance. Close your eyes, place both hands on your chest, and breathe deeply and slowly three times while keeping your eyes closed.

Make use of this moment of calm to clear your mind, focus your energy, feel the movement of air in your environment, channel the energy around you. This is what I like to call a sacred moment, a moment of connection with the most sacred in you, yourself, your spirit, your soul and your own energy.

That moment of complete silence, with each slow breath you take, a part of yourself is trying to reach others, so for a moment, your physical body, your mind, and your spirit are synchronized connecting as one.

Then open your eyes, place both palms of your hands open in front of you, visualize the flame of the candle and let the energy flow from your hands to the fire. If you have not done it before, with this exercise that “first emanation of energy” that you do, is essentially the energy blocks that you are releasing yourself. It is as if you were consciously releasing the stagnant water from a well in order to reach the treasure at the bottom (your own energy).

At the end of this ritual, you will feel exhausted, maybe a little dizzy and it is normal, you have just completely drained a huge part of your energy that was acting like an old skin soaked by time. Since then, just as when your body discards everything it no longer needs, you will absorb much new cleaner energy with the new moon.

  • The personal Charm bag.

Yes, I wrote a whole magical book on Charm bags (CLICK HERE) because it is one of my favorite forms of sorcery, is practical, intimate, easy to load, use and recharge, especially suitable for beginners. And as your magic and learning become more complex, your rituals and amulets will be too.

I always recommend to my followers to choose a Monday night to perform this talisman. With a mixture of thick salt and rosemary, perform a ritual circle of three feet to six feet in diameter, in the center of the circle burn a little incense, light a red candle, also place a saucer with salt and a glass with water.

Fill a sack of felt fabric with a small piece of amber, a piece of crystal quartz, a strand of your hair tied with red ribbon, some cinnamon powder, white sage and bay leaves.

Bless this amulet within the circle by making prayer out loud to your personal pantheon. Close the cloth bag with everything inside and keep it close to you, either under your pillow at night or in your wallet during the day.

This little talisman will give you greater confidence in your power, unlock your magic skills and also protect you against the envy, the evil eye and the evil intentions of the people in your environment.

  • Smudge the place

I always recommend it, use the method of your choice, I like to combine equal parts of sage, palo santo, frankincense, and eucalyptus in a cauldron, I set it on fire, and I move it throughout the house as a votive incense for the spirits.

This combination cleans the energy in the place, changes the eonic vibration of the environment, raises your mood, and drives away evil spirits.

I personally clean my house with this method every Monday and Thursday in the morning. You can simply use sage incense or holy stick in the corners. You can clean with a mixture of rose water and clean water from a nearby river with a few drops of holy stick oil, or rub a handkerchief moistened with sage oil and myrrh in the door and window frames.

About the new age and esoteric Stores:

Although I always choose to suggest to my followers that they acquire their implements for the practice of magic and sorcery in a nearby esoteric or botanical shop, sometimes these can be, or more distant than desired, or many times they are more expensive than online stores.

For no reason, I am going to recommend you to use Amazon, but if you are a regular Online shopper, if I am going to suggest here a brief list of online store options in which I personally usually acquire some products, or I simply know their owners and them that these are trusted magicians and sorcerers who do a good job.

If with something I am very critical it is with the magic stores, I like to distinguish properly the Botanics (more focused on voodoo, hoodoo and folk magic), the esoteric stores (where the fort is the books, tools, and workshops live) and the boutiques (more influenced by the new age movement). So here I will leave for you the links to my favorites and most recommended, if you are a blog reader, you have an online store (not phone shop) and you want to be added here, please let me know.

In the third post (next week) I will write about...

  • My experience with online communities.
  • About fairs, events and workshops live.

And remember, you are not reading this from the vision and perspective of an expert but from another seeker of power and wisdom like you.

Modern Sorcery & Old Magic, by Elhoim Leafar.

Modern Sorcery & Old Magic, by Elhoim Leafar.

Hugs to all the readers who came to this little virtual corner, the place where I feel more like sharing my ideas and the occasional experience.

In this short post, far from debating trivialities like "what kind of magic is better?", I am going to focus on making clear some ideas on the subject that I would like to share about it, especially towards my followers and readers who are keeping me positive. busy in the course of the day.

Remember that in this post, as in all the posts on this blog:

  1. We do not seek to please anyone, simply to clarify some points of view from the practical.
  2. There are no editors, so the ideas are written as they should be, completely "raw" and without filters.
  3. This post is written by an individual who was born in a tiny Amazon town next to the Orinoco River, was raised between the cities of Caracas and Cumana in Venezuela, and currently resides in another city different from the world, if your vision and mine do not match, that is completely normal.
  4. In this as in all my blog posts, I do not seek to sell my ideas to anyone, my job is not to convince you, my job is simply to make others understand my position regarding certain topics so that they know and understand that thinking differently does not It means being isolated, you can think differently from the rest and still be part of a civilized society.

Now yes, entering the matter, we are going to define certain points for your understanding.

Modern Sorcery vs Old Magic.

Do you remember Merlin the magician? Imagine Merlin for a moment, the old man with the long beard, the king's advisor, a well-known alchemist and sorcerer who guarded the folklore of Camelot, cared for the holy sword of Excalibur and fulfilled practically all characteristics of a druid.

Merlin revered the forests in order to win the favor of the old spirits, read fate in the stars and clouds, so he would be prepared for all events. Merlin studied folklore in order to understand the past, taking care of King Arthur, to whom he gave advice when necessary, since being the King's guide allowed him to fulfill his greatest task, protect and bring prosperity to the kingdom of Camelot.

Now let's analyze for a moment the practice that was carried out by the witches of Salem and New Orleans, in the US. They were mostly women who lived repressed because of a society that did not understand them, and slaves who unfortunately suffered the contempt of a class and racist society (the latter has not changed much), and therefore, in both cases, resorted to the spirits and the old deities to ask for protection, in a time when everyone came against them, to pray for protection, in times much more difficult than ours, to pray for love, because for young women, marrying a young man was the best way not to be “sold” by his parents to a wealthy man much older than them for economic gain, as well as prosperity, veneration of his ancestors, and even to become pregnant and thus ensure the well-being of the family.

I do not know much about the historical origins of witchcraft and voodoo in North America, that is not my area, and even if I studied it, it is not for me to carry out that analysis. But what I do know well, and could say that it corresponds to my area of experience, are the origins of these practices in the Caribbean and the Amazon.

Umbanda, Quimbanda, Palo Mayombe, Candomble and Santeria have gained enormous relevance in Latin America in these two recent decades. While Amazonia has become popular among tourists who go there to perform Ayahuasca sessions and Cocoa ceremonies at a good price. Cuba and Brazil are the destinations of all those magic seekers who want to enter the esoteric world of Afro-Caribbean mysticism.

All these recent practices have ended up merging with each other to the point of being almost impossible to differentiate, however, although superficially they look quite similar to each other, internally each of these comes loaded with a whole historical legacy, which walks through the first times of the slaves that were brought to the Caribbean from Africa, until the fusion that naturally arose from the practices of these men and women from Africa, and those natives * of South America.

Now, taking distance from the whole historical issue. The practice of magic in old America was very different from ours, it was more based on the connection with nature, on the study of clouds and stars, on divination methods, on the veneration of the dead and the ancestors, and in daily practice, as well as in the constant study and oral transmission of folklore.

The old witches used natural, single-colored, homemade candles, lighting them to win the favor of spirits, venerate the spirits of the night, ward off evil spirits, ask for protection and happiness, or ask for any kind. of wishes.

The witches of New Orleans and Salem gathered the herbs in the forest to prepare ointments, medicinal oils, and burn them as votive incense to the spirits. In Latin America, specifically in Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, and Venezuela. Shamans and witch doctors healed with herbs, ointments, and oils, burned herbs to dispel illnesses and evil spirits, and animal sacrifices were the order of the day. All this without mentioning the human sacrifices that were historically contemplated in Central America and Mexico.

The Magic of our time.

Yes, it is very different from the more traditional methods, but it is not "plastic magic" as some call it, although many "neo witches" are more focused on collecting books and buying a hundred herbs and beautiful bottles of oils on Amazon to post very nice photos on IG / FB. Out there you can find many great magicians and sorcerers who make use of these facilities to instruct others in the magical art of sorcery, to form appropriate Coven for the performance of rituals collectively, for the veneration of the ancestors and various gods, to conjure powers and consecrate various rituals.

Of course, the witches of the old-time did not use glitter in their spells, they did not decorate their altars with mirrors because they would rather remain hidden, they did not have two thousand different incense fragrances or used colored candles, all their candles were white and white.

But just as everything in the world continues to advance, sorcery has also advanced, and we who have had the opportunity to embrace this change can now perform magic (which at least I consider) much more powerful. Complementing our candles with symbols that direct all the energy to a more specific goal, incenses that evoke the power of our purpose, and we place all kinds of oils and herbs in our shower soaps to include small rituals of love and protection.

We have the opportunity to do all that magic that our predecessors did not have, we have the opportunity to carry out our practice openly and in broad daylight, and that has led us to study new and different techniques that combine different types of magic in one more modern, more complicated, more complex, and richer sorcery.

For the witches and wizards who preceded us, surely it was also a great change, having to go from the fires of a huge bonfire and a cauldron in the middle of the forest to working with candles between caves and huts to get discretion.

Is Truly Old Magic?

If you have had the opportunity to read the greatest magic and sorcery books ever written, such as the "Greater Key of Solomon the King", "The Goetia: The Lesser Key of Solomon the King", or "the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage". You will know that those great magicians used a quite complex esoteric science, rich in symbolism and with long and very well structured rituals, their rituals were more based on ritualism and less on "that's what you attract" and these more modern elements.

Those books were loaded with enormous symbolic, kabbalistic, esoteric and astrological knowledge at the same time, all of them not to mention Saint Cyprian the witch-sorcerer "Sourceworks of Ceremonial Magic", which was more based on direct practice and less on theoretical study, without stopping being one of the great books that every magician, sorcerer, and sorcerer should have in his library.

All of the above are examples of powerful magicians and summoners who were true idealists and pioneers in magic, and those practices they carried out several centuries ago still remain with us, intuitively linked to hundreds of more modern spells and rituals that we can find in the books of many modern authors.

While for many who call themselves "real witches" the modern magic seems to make little sense, or see it as a modern excuse to make money, these same individuals should discuss two important things here, the first, which probably all those magicians were also considered by theirs as "very advanced for their time", as well as those of today, and second, that everything in this world, absolutely everything that is created by man, and that includes from the sciences and the philosophy, even religion, and art, everything is linked to money in one way or another, because it is the way in which the universal law of exchange takes shape in our hands.

While many modern authors may seem quite extreme in their practice, and many other individuals are more focused on "practicing to look cool." There are still very good authors out there who combine magical modernism with traditional sorcery, achieving very good results, not only good books but also beautiful rituals rich in cultural symbolism and elements typical of traditional magic, which combine with each other to give good results, all these, fruits of his incredible study and years of practice.

Now, it is not to forget an important factor, all the magic that today many people superficially classify as "modern magic", in two or three decades it will be rather classic, which will inevitably influence the practice of many other magicians and younger and more modern sorcerers.

Note: Regarding the use of the word "indigenous", I must always repeat this to avoid the discomfort of the readers (especially American whites who often reproach me for the use of these terms), where I come from the words like black or indigenous, they do not have no negative connotation, in fact, my sisters call me black for love, and we call my nieces "negritas" (little girls), I am the whitest of my brothers and my two grandmothers are native to the Wayuu tribe in the surroundings of Venezuela, the words like "Indian" or "Indian" are not offensive to us.

Seven magical ways to Improve your “workplace” if you work from Home.

Responding to my readers, here I share Seven ways to Improve your “workplace” if you work from Home.

Hugs lover, thanks for always coming to my virtual corner. This time responding to your emails as I have been doing lately, I share some information required here.

Working from home is not an easy task, and when you also have a formal part-time job like me (publicist and marketing consultant) it is quite easy to get distracted between one thing and another. About 90% of my work is done from my laptop at home, and I only leave home for work reasons between once and twice a week, either for meetings with clients of some small brand, with entrepreneurs and creatives, or t some magic and sorcery workshop in a local store.

When you work from home it is extremely easy to get distracted. You can move all your furniture and do some feng shui, you can turn off smartphone notifications, or you can set an alarm, all this I have done in the past, but distractions continue to appear.

Obviously, this depends on each individual and not all minds are equal, for some, it is easier to focus on work during the corresponding hours, in my case, I am usually doing several things at the same time, such as taking care of my nephews while I study for college, or attend a workday with my nephews because nobody else is there to take care of them.

In my case, I am so used to doing several things at the same time and keeping myself busy, that if I am reading a book while I exercise in the gym, I simply get bored.

So for this, I have created a series of small magical rituals that help me keep my mind focused and avoid distractions, these work for me, and I hope they work for you too.

  • Pyramids help focus and distribute the flow of energy. That is why I like to keep a small red paper pyramid next to my laptop, activate the energy of knowledge and avoid minor distractions.
  • I use yellow candles to calm and focus the mind. If you have witnessed some of my videos in live via IG / FB, you will have noticed that there is always a candle burning around me, usually white or yellow. Every day when I sit down to work I light a yellow candle and a myrrh incense cone, the candle to make the thoughts flow and the myrrh incense so that “these thoughts” that I am placing in writing, are prosperous and bring fruits.
  • A glass with water, lemon and honey. Not only is it a healthy practice to drink it every day, but it also prevents me from getting up every five minutes to look for something in the freezer, because it calms my anxiety and decreases my appetite. Perhaps this is the least magical of all my rituals.
  • Blessing the hours is always the right thing. Since I sit down to write and plan until I finish, I not only place a timer for 175 minutes in which I do not take the phone, I do not answer calls, I do not check Media, I do not get up to write at all, but also, always I recite "Thank you Obatala for these productive hours today", even before you start. Clearly, you can change the name to the deity or angel of your personal pantheon.
  • The crystals for harmony. I like to keep a small crystal bowl with pieces of quartz and black tourmaline near my workspace, to dispel distractions and absorb anxiety.
  • A tiny pentagram for when all else fails. If you still feel you need something more radical, I have shared this trick earlier in my books. I make a simple drawing of a pentagram with the words "focus", "prosperity", "attention", "intention", "purpose", on each of the tips, I cover it with some essential oil of camphor and roses I keep it under my keyboard permanently.
  • A sprig of lavender. In any store or botany, you can find a full bouquet of lavender for a very good price, but with a twig, it is enough, I like to place it on the computer to bless with wealth and success the result of all my work.

I suggest you follow any of these methods, look for the one that is most useful for you, you do not have to follow them all, for some it may be easier to dedicate all your workspace to elaborate certain rituals and methods, but I understand that not for everyone it is like that, so look for the method that best suits you.

Blessings.

Magic & Sorcery for Beginners (part I).

For those who wonder this.

• Magic & Sorcery for Beginners (part I).
• What do I teach my newest students/teachers?
• Tools they will need.
• My online groups.

What do I teach my newest teachers from scratch?

Hugs to you who have arrived here, I will start this with a brief personal anecdote before really getting into the matter. Like all posts in my blog, this is something entirely personal, based on my own experience and background, I do not seek to make corrections to the methods of others or impose my format on anyone, simply this is the way I, completely spontaneously, I learned to do things and I have improved them, but I'm still in a constant learning process.

The anecdote

Recently I (Elhoim Leafar) received a text message on my smartphone, this person got my phone number on one of my pages, it is not difficult to believe taking into account that I have many of my teachers (so I call my students because that's what they are) in my WhatsApp and also in a community group on Telegram where I share weekly notes, recipes, spells, spells, information about the moon phases, dates of my workshops and online sessions, etc.

This individual is an older person who has decided for some time to enter the world of magic and sorcery, is in Canada, the neighboring country, and asks me certain questions about it. With so many more qualified people than me out there (or often simply more popular), it always amazes me when people come to me, because from my perspective, I am perhaps the least qualified for it, however, my group of online teachers It does not stop growing, so I still receive everyone with a lot of love.

Because I am accustomed to this process, I have more or less a guide of steps that I always share with these people, I keep them in order, and I know that they, usually after six or eight months take their separate path and start to their way, so during those first months I like to teach them everything that is in my possibilities, recommend good books, and even invite them to participate as part of my online tribe.

My first teacher

My first teacher was Juan Diego Albares, in San Antonio de Los Altos, Venezuela. I was barely 21 years old, I wasn't qualified for it, and to be honest I still don't feel that I am. But this person came to me through an online platform, came to my page where I offered (at that time) sessions of spiritualism and divination, and once a year, trips to the Amazon for the realization of ayahuasca sessions, ceremonies of cocoa and rituals for the opening of the "third eye" or "eye of the native god."

This young man, barely a few years younger than me, sought some spiritual advice, and although I made it clear that I was not a professional in the field, he simply told me "teach me what you know about magic." During the following years, and even today, Juan Diego is still one of the members of my tribe, he consults with me only (of course he receives a special price) and we talk every two weeks, we organize distance rituals and he directs my small circle of magicians in Venezuela. Juan is highly qualified to carry out these tasks, and after a while, I have learned more than my own.

The first ten things that I always teach to all who come to me as a guide are:

  1. Learn from everyone, and never stop learning.
  2. Be always humble because you will always be learning.
  3. Keep your altar lit and tidy.
  4. Keep your space or room clean every day.
  5. Invest a lot in your knowledge and practice.
  6. Tell me brother, tell me friend, tell me uncle, don't tell me teacher.
  7. Love everything you do, and do it all with Love.
  8. Don't be afraid to ask for help, don't be afraid to ask for advice.
  9. Do not teach others anything that you have not practiced.
  10. Do not do to others (especially with magic) something that you would not want for yourself.

And I always ask my teachers to buy the following implements:

  • Candles and incense, for their rituals.
  • White sage, and eucalyptus, to burn as incense.
  • A white notebook and pens, to create your spellbook.
  • Bay leaves, so you never lack wealth in your wallet.
  • Crystal quartz, for our monthly meditation rituals.

The first steps I always suggest:

  • The realization of various symbols and specific writings in the notebook, this information was sent entirely privately to each individual.
  • Clean and order your personal space (bedroom, house or apartment) with sage and eucalyptus incense.
  • Join my meditation group on Telegram or Add me on Whatsapp to receive all the information.
  • Provide me with your personal information to add to my ritual of blessings that I perform at home every Sunday night and every Monday morning.
  • Send me pics of the books of magic you have with you (if you have some) to know what kind of practice your learning, and from there I will understand your steps in the magic.
  • I suggest you subscribe to a small list of various blogs (Hispanic, Spanish and American) with very good writers so that they learn from different points of view, we can also discuss in our online groups some of these articles.

The first ritual

The ritual with the new moon that I share with my followers is practically obligatory, this is practically a dictatorship in the whole event (something I learned from living so many years in a Socialist / Communist government). It's a joke !, but yes, the ritual with the new moon is extremely simple and is a mandatory practice that I like to promote in my circles, not only to take them to immediate practice but also to fertilize their magical abilities.

We perform this ritual with each new moon, it is simple, it will not take more than five minutes, and I consider it necessary.

What happened to the WhatsApp group?

For those who were part of my previous group on WhatsApp, this group was eliminated in October 2019, because many of the participants were there essentially to steal our group ideas blatantly and apply them separately, or to share links to book galleries illegally distributed.

For these reasons the group was faded, and so far we have not created another one, but I still receive contacts daily on my Telegram/Whatsapp, if you have one of these two applications (preferably Telegram) you can request my number personally and I will include you in our next group/tribe / online coven.

Who are welcome to be part of my small group?

We are extremely exclusive, excessively exclusive, so much so, that we only admit humans of all colors, races and religious beliefs here.

Who are not welcome to be part of my small group?

As in all places of the universe, certain rules must be maintained, so individuals who come here to hurt or offend other members of the group, any individual who commits an act of discrimination or racism against others, are immediately blocked, and people who share links to pages that promote the illegal distribution of products.

NEXT POST:

In the second post (next week) I will include in detail the first three rituals that I suggest everyone performs when they are beginning in magic and sorcery.

And remember, you are not reading this from the vision and perspective of an expert but from another searcher like you.

My Seven Incenses.

My Seven favorite incenses and their different uses.
+ Recommendations below as every week.

Greetings and hugs to all readers who walk here, continuing the line of recent posts, here I will share my seven favorite incenses and their uses.

Incense is often used in its different presentations to achieve three objectives:

  • Aromatize the place in a less chemical and a much more traditional way.
  • Positively change the energy of the place and its eonic frequency.
  • Venerate some specific spirit or deity.

Now, the incense can be acquired in various presentations, although the incense in the form of wands is usually the most popular and offers a greater variety of fragrances, the cone-shaped incense leaves less waste and is practical “cleaner”, in fact, it is My favorite presentation, from my point of view, the way it burns and releases the incense is usually much less aggressive and that triangular shape, stimulates energy better by raising the frequency around it.

The energy of the incense is found in its special oils that when having some contact with the fire activate their energy and begin to change the frequency of the place. However, if you want to have a greater amount of energy for some ritual, I will advise you the same as I advise all those who attend my workshops, burn dry herbs in a cauldron or saucer, their energy is more concentrated and “less processed ”, Is a good way to channel the energy you are looking for to perform some kind of specific ritual.

In my book "The Magical Art Of Crafting Charm Bags" I included a complete list of incenses and their various uses, and also a shortlist of incenses that best activate your personal energy according to your zodiac sign and the days of the week.

My favorite incenses for each occasion:

  • To meditate and create calm

Azucena (lily) and Copal: Both are excellent for attracting peace and tranquility, they help you relax your mind and slightly detach your focus on your surroundings and any distractions, both are highly recommended for meditation, but together they are excellent.

  • To protect the home and homes of my loved ones

Myrrh and sandalwood, if you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that I use them in most of my rituals. Myrrh stimulates clairvoyance and practically strengthens any ritual you perform, while the sandalwood is more associated with spiritual strength, clairvoyance and economic wealth. If you put them together as cone incenses and burn them in every corner of the room, you are creating an atmosphere highly resistant to bad vibes and ill-intentioned spirits.

  • To combat an anxiety attack and stimulate mood and good mood

Bergamot has an incredible and very organic aroma, has powers to combat depression and anxiety, I usually recommend its use in spells and rituals to strengthen self-esteem. You can combine it with Frankincense (Olibanum) to prevent panic attacks and nullify anxiety.

  • To combat insomnia and maximize rest time

If you are a night owl just like me and you usually sleep for a few hours, you may have the same problem that I have, I sleep for a few hours and I have a hard time replenishing my energy, I don't feel completely exhausted, but I don't feel rested either.

For this, I recommend burning geranium, lavender or thyme incense a couple of hours before going to sleep, either together or separately.
  1. The geranium incense provides an energy of calm, tranquility and confidence.
  2. Lavender incense cleanses the psychic energy of the atmosphere and reduces stress.
  3. Thyme incense prevents against psychic attacks and nightmares.

  • To generate concentration and focus

Unlike the "incense for meditation", here we do not seek to clear the mind and relax the thoughts, here we try to generate a sense of focus and full attention on a goal. To focus your mind the ideal incenses are those of Eucalyptus, mint, and rue.

If you want it and it is in your possibilities, to focus your attention for a long period of time on the same objective, you can burn a combination of dried leaves of mint, rue, and eucalyptus, thank me later!

  • To purify places, rooms, and altars

Camphor and sage are the most suitable for this job, they change the energy of the place, transmute negative vibrations into positive ones, and clean the entire environment against astral larvae and negative energy formations. But if you use plants as votive incense, you can add garlic skin to clean the atmosphere in its entirety against all negativity.

  • For good fortune and make wishes

Almond, Amber & Cinnamon, I have used this combination since the age of 12, and it has never failed, it is a magical combination to stimulate your own energy and focus on the proper fulfillment of your desires, the most important thing is to stay focused during your requests, very good also to accompany your prayers.

My Monthly Recommendation: Here I attach the links to some of my favorite stores that sell incredible products and have a wide variety of incenses, I have also included some of my favorites.

Each of these Incense Cone styles is named after an old-time song performed by amazing musicians.
These small-batch cones are top quality incense in a convenient and easy to use the form and made right here at the Parlour of Wonders.

A powerful Blue Sage is excellent for healing and cleansing rituals.
It can be used to aid meditation and is not as pungent as White Sage.

A majestic and delicious fragrance to fill every corner of your home with blessings,
if you want to do a cleaning, this is the item you need.

To stimulate your visions and the strength of your dreams, ideal for predictive dreams and clarity, especially during those magical full moon nights.

About your Magic.

They want to make you believe that you are less powerful, but it is because they are afraid of you, and although it is not reasonable, it is understandable.

Your skills for magic, spiritualism and sorcery are not linked to your homeland, the lineage of your parents, your sex of birth, your number of followers in social media or your collection of herbs, books or crystals.

While many of your powers and talents may be linked to various aspects of your life and practice, that does not define how good a sorcerer or spiritualist you are, the actual daily practice and the focus on it is what defines your true talent, not It is what you presume, but what you do and how you do it.

Promote that power originates in "your blood lineage", the link of your sex and sexuality with the moon or some other star in the sky, or your huge library, not only bordering on the absurd and classist (and often it is even racist), it is also just an expression of fear and lack of understanding of reason, in the spiritual world we all look exactly the same, regardless of your color, sex, race, religion or nationality, your powers are not very different from it.

You will discover the true origin and limit of your powers with daily practice, not with written theory.

Plants and Floral Essences for this Season.

A shortlist of Plants and Floral Essences for this Christmas season

In the northern winter is beginning to feel, while in the South the seasons are not stopping up, but if we have something in common it is the Christmas season, if you have read the three previous posts that I have published in this season, you know that The focus here is not to promote the eternal debate Pagans vs. Christians, about who has the right or not to celebrate these holidays.

Our approach is to take advantage of this season of family union and celebrations for the realization of spells, charms, and rituals that give strength to our desires to turn them into reality in the course of the solar cycle that is about to begin.

In this quite short post, I will make a special mention of different plants and floral essences that are indispensable for you this season.

The plants

Hedera Helix (the ivy)

Ivy is associated with the gods Osiris and Atis, (both resurrected after death), so it is used to symbolize eternity and resurrection, it is usually used to make crowns in centerpieces or hanging decorations.

(This plant can have high toxicity, so it must be used very carefully.)

Serissa Jap. (the serisa)

La Serisa or "The winter rose", is a small subtropical shrub of small white star-shaped flowers, blooms during the winter in Central Europe and at other times in different parts of Asia, its white flowers symbolize purity and calm.

Schlumbergera (the Christmas cactus)

The Thanksgiving cactus, crab cactus or holiday cactus, the flowers of this cactus are well known in Brazil for their healing powers and a peculiar aroma, it is a plant that can be considered uncommon, but in many countries, it is gaining a relevant position as a plant of Christmas.

Euphorbia pulcherrima (the typical Poinsettia)

The poinsettia is undoubtedly the privileged one and at this time of year, there is no corner, or place where we do not see one. The red of its leaves means luck and fortune for its owners. Placing it next to the entrance door brings very good energy.

Ilex aquifolium (the holly)

The holly symbolizes good fortune and love, its cut branches are used to decorate and create crowns for the doors of the house. It was considered a sacred tree by the ancient Druids, while the pagans of ancient Rome associated it with the god Saturn, whose feast was celebrated from December 25.

Floral essences and Oils

For lovers of oils and aromatic essences, this season I usually recommend floral essences much more than herbal essences, because they feed the spirit of the home with their mostly spring energies and provide an aroma reminiscent of the mother's greenery Spirit.

Special blend

To protect the good energy of the home I advise you to make use of a small bottle of dark glass with sprayer and place in it a light blend with equal parts of oils of sweet tangerine or orange, lemon, cedar, and cinnamon. Mix it well and use it to spray every corner.

Other essences:

Chamomile essential oil to attract peace, calm and balance.
Cinnamon essential oil for protection and good relationships.
Lavender essential oil for harmony and raise your good vibes.
Sandalwood essential oil for spirituality and abundance.
Cedar essential oil to strengthen family relationships during this cycle.
Cypress essential oil for love and good fortune this season.

Tip: If you have already read the previous post on 'how to decorate the table for Christmas Eve dinner' I recommend using these oils with a sprayer or a special oil burner to aromatize the space before it heals and create an energy-laden atmosphere peace and joy.

Clarification, about the use of the Magic Circle and the astral larvaes.

Magic circle

Greetings my Tribe and hugs of light to all.

Today's Post is made with the purpose of specifying my point of view and constant insistence on an important theme in magic and sorcery, in this case, is the due use of the Magic Circle, or ritual Circle.

Well, this is not a popular practice, nor is it mandatory, it is still advisable, especially for beginners and not initiated in practice, those who lack some experience with the subject.

It is normal when you have read one or two esoteric books, believe yourself an expert who knows everything and is prepared for everything, because many times the true practitioners of magical art do not place enough warnings in their books, as many of these explanations may seem At first sight, properly extracted from a science fiction book, and because many inexperienced readers can believe it to be an exaggeration, it is normal that many authors do not place enough warnings, because if you want your books to be taken seriously, we must, unfortunately, limit even the same reality to a certain point.

In each and every one of my books I have always recommended with remarkable insistence the use and creation of the magic circle, usually with a long and detailed explanation, and even in one of my most recent books "The Magical Art Of Crafting Charm Bags", as in the books before this one, I decided to include for the comfort of the practitioners, different forms and uses of the enchantment circle, including a short method and a complete method.

On one occasion someone answered me in a social network "not always have the time to make a magic circle, many times we attend magic by emergency", because my point of view, trying to be respectful about it, always available the time, make a circle with salt or some enchanted grass will not take more than two minutes, we are clear on something, it is two minutes, it literally finds the salt, some protection grass, flowers, or even a previously consecrated rope that you keep on your altar and you can use it on certain occasions, for all the Gods, it's two minutes! I do not think there are any excuses to say "I did not have two minutes to mark a small circle on the floor".

But as my mother would say "when out of laziness or arrogance you do not want to do things, any excuse sounds valid".

Second, when it says "we do emergency magic", that "pocket magic" or "instant magic" of which many are very followers now, I understand that the world, and especially for the fans of science fiction television series, It is great to imagine that everything around us must happen extremely fast and that we must perform "instant magic" for almost anything.

But unless you're being chased by a vampire in the middle of the night, I do not think any emergency deserves a counterproductive magic effect. A counterproductive magic effect is that result that occurs when you perform some spell or enchantment without thinking properly about the consequences of it (a love spell for example), and then it turns out to take an effect that is not properly what we were expecting, the magic it always works, but it works in two ways, or it works well, or it works badly, but the energy that we send around us will always end up producing some effect, positive or negative, but it will always result in something.

A magic circle works primarily as a practical form of protection, it will keep the energy inside the circle and reuse your own energy contained in the circle to protect it properly from external energies, besides, it is a way to quickly focus the energy without external distractions, because your mind and your limbic system enter the mode "I am performing a spell and I must focus", and after some practice time, this ends up being very positive, because it helps us to focus the energy quickly in the purpose we are seeking to achieve.

Renowned authors such as Mauricio Puerta, Brandy Williams, Gerina Dunwich and Vladimir Burdman, among many others, associate the realization of the circle of enchantment with a form of "psychic magic" that synchronizes our abilities for the realization of magical works, with our psychic energy, puts both forms of energy to work in concrete, and after some time in practice, thanks to the "neurolinguistic programming" helps us to focus more quickly our consciousness in the magical work we do, being increasingly difficult for us to grasp distractions in the process.

While Brandy Williams, the author of multiple books of magic and magical realization, affirms that neuro-linguistic programming is a vital part of our day-to-day life, and it is especially important for those of us dedicated to the practice of magical or spiritualistic arts, other authors an little more focused on esoteric art like Gerina Dunwich and Vladimir Burdman (just to name a few and not to bore the reader with a huge list), they affirm that the magic circle is a way to mark and delimit the space between the area of magical work, where the energy we use for the ritual is concentrated, and the outer space, that which we cohabit every day, be it a garden, an office, a living room of the house or a small corner of our department.

Focusing the energy in a single point is extremely important because we get to place all our magic power in a safe place (the spell, the ritual, the amulet, etc ...), but we also avoid disturbing the energy and many times in addition, the emotions of those around us.

It is understandable that many practitioners, especially those with more experience, decide not to use a magic circle, not because of arrogance, but rather because their energy and experience is so high that in many cases, no spirit or larva from another plane I would even dare to approach to disturb his temper, but when it is starting in practice, at least during the first years, I always recommend making use of the circle of protection and keep the magic within it.

Moment of boring my dear readers with a bit of family history about it.

My grandmother, Maria Begena Eugenia de Castillas and Urbaneja, a common healer of an indigenous tribe, raised within a family of healers on the banks of the Arenas River in Venezuela, even in her more than 90 years, maintains an enormous ritual circle made with stones painted red, green and white inside a room of his farm, just in the only living room of the house that has two windows, one facing east and one to the west, and it is inside this circle, where perfectly fit two people, where she performs her most impressive spiritual healing and works.

Being my grandmother one of my teachers to follow from an early age, even when I asked her because with so many years of experience she kept this huge circle that I thought was a bad use of space, even more, taking into account that many times I myself had the good fortune to witness the use of many of its powers outside the circle, like that time when a pregnant woman, a victim of a spell performed by her own sister, fell over my grandmother and tried to bite her, acting like a real animal wild at full time of the day and in the central living room of the house, and my grandmother only uttered a kind of spell in her native tongue, placed her hands on the woman's forehead, and I saw personally how the woman in question fell immediately fainted next to my grandmother and began to vomit a black and slimy liquid, with foam and very smelly.

This time my grandmother had no need (or time) to perform a magic circle, this is true magic in emergencies, but a different kind of magic that many (for different reasons) are not able to perform, either by inexperience or because they simply have not needed it.

On several occasions I saw my grandmother consecrate objects by just touching them, inside and outside the house, and that time we spent the entire night awake because we did not stop listening to footsteps on the roof, she said "they are the witches who are jumping up to the monte ", the truth I never knew if he said it in a joke or serious way, or maybe it's just part of the folklore of his people, of which I do not know much, because I grew up in the city far from her, and I only visited him Holidays about twice a year.

On that occasion my grandmother appeared at the back door of the house, hit the ground with her cane three times, and with the third blow, I could swear that a group was heard, maybe three or four people falling on the roof immediately Grandmother just said a few words and pointed to the mountain, a mountain beyond the river, visible from the windows of the house, followed by this, a few light steps were heard on the roof and seconds later all the sounds of footsteps They disappeared, she went to sleep, assuming that nothing important happened, and the next morning she sent my cousins and me to repair the loose roof tiles, which we got completely folded.

After this, and many other similar experiences at each visit, my mother was teaching me one day to do a spell to help my psychology teacher at school, and she told me in detail how to do the circle, I performed it but arrogantly I replied, "my grandmother does not need these things, because we still do it", I suppose it is the typical attitude that practitioners have at 13, I suppose, because I have seen this same attitude in many other practitioners at that age.

And my mother on that occasion answered very seriously, without stopping making her typical smile "no matter how much you learn and what you do, there is always going to be someone stronger than you from the other side, and many times that someone may be tempted to bother, so it's better to prevent. "

My mother on the other hand, who usually spends her entire nights lighting up her altar with candles and smoke (tobacco smoke, not incense), to always get the favor of the spirits, every evening before sitting down to make her session every night, he extracts a piece of white or red chalk from that old wooden box on his altar, and proceeds to draw a circle on the floor, around his chair, returns the rest of the chalk to his box, and sits to light candles, pray, burn sage, smoke cigarettes all night long, until very early in the morning, and always at the end, he threw some salt water with the tips of his fingers around the circle, and then proceeded to erase it from in.

Maybe I'm so cautious, because after spending a lifetime, seeing a real expert like her, always taking care of the spiritual plane, and taking into account that many times she has had all kinds of encounters with entities and creatures that do not dare to describe, it is hard not to want to take precautions and warn others about it.

Similar case occurs with the use of the Ouija, perhaps for seers and spiritualists it is much easier to contact the spiritual plane, but many require for different reasons to use an Ouija, and remember that the Ouija, as well as most of the divination tools, they work as doors between our worlds, and when we do not have the proper experience, it is common for us to unconsciously let some entity from the other side, because the veil between the spiritual plane and the astral plane, as well as our plane, is full of entities and creatures beyond our knowledge, ready to jump between planes to create from a simple headache to terrible chaos, discord, ailments, losses, deaths, and many other negative things that can be added to the list.

In my first books, as well as in the books of many authors, you will find different ways and also warnings, about the realization of the magic circle, usually to balance and concentrate our own energy, and simultaneously guarding our physical body that is in those moments more into the magical plane than usual. In my most recent book of practical magic, which deals with the bags of amulets and their realization, the magic circle fulfills an important function as an energy protector, because, while you are performing and consecrating an amulet to perform certain magical effects in your environment, or in the environment of someone else, it would be very easy for some elusive spirit of this or another plane, or even for some larvae of the world beyond the veil, to cross through your own energy and to enter the amulet, to feed on your energy and encourage (just what larvae do) through the amulet in question, and end up causing entirely the opposite effect to the desired.

Although it sounds fictitious to many, larvae exist.

For many authors and sorcerers, the larvae, better known by many as astral larvae or worms of the veil, according to the magical culture to which you belong, are the forms that low-level creatures that inhabit the doors between flat, they feed negative energy (as well as the worms that grow and feed on garbage), in this case, the larvae feed on bad thoughts, grudges, fears, regrets, nightmares, worries, do nothing but feed, and look for food

The larvae do not live in the astral plane, but in the open portals between the veil and our plane, and according to the metaphysical books, and practically any book of spiritism that you can find in a library, the larvae usually pursue from their plane to the individuals who flood their aura or their energy shield with negative worries and feelings like those previously mentioned.

The larvae adhere to you and make you feel exhausted, irritable, tired, moody or depressed, a frequently depressed person can attract many larvae and take them with you like parasites, either by infecting them to other people, or simply by letting them feed more frequently.

These creatures are so low level that you can simply eradicate them with some incense, sage and a bath of water with salts, but otherwise, it is like walking with a huge filthy worm that is attached to your neck feeding on you throughout the day, that does not allow you to feel rested, and that keeps you cranky, sad or tired all day and at all times.

The astral larvae are not exactly intelligent beings, they act by instinct, essentially by hunger, and it is very common for inexperienced wizards and magicians to attract them whenever they perform a spell or spell because, for them, it is an open door to a restaurant that will serve your favorite dish.

These unpleasant creatures adhere to the energetic shield of the individual (the aura), and once there they begin to feed, individuals with great skills for the realization of some form of magic, or the most expert, can easily get rid of them, thanks to who gain over time the ability to purify and drive away or call different kinds of energies and spirits in their environment.

But unless you are a true expert on the subject, with enough experience to be able to use this magic without taking the proper precautions, it is advisable to always make use of the magic circle, or at least, some amulet of protection practical enough to take care of you

From experts and experts.

Many magicians and more experienced wizards will recommend you to use a circle, many others will tell you that it is not necessary, in my case, I will always recommend it, respecting, of course, the words of others that in many cases can be more experienced than me, and that's respectable, but always remember that being a healthy person and taking nutritious smoothies all day, does not make you immune to the flu of some stranger who can get close, and in the case of practical magic, It happens exactly the same.

Certain magicians have a strong form of visualization and focus, but as in mathematics, it is understandable that not all advance at the same level, which for some can be extremely easy, as the astral projection, the unfolding, the levitation, or the consecration of talismans, for many others is really difficult, and that's normal, you should not risk our energy and have a hard time trying to accommodate a bad effect made by a spell that was accelerated "because you did not have the time to do it right", only to feed your own ego and assume that we are already capable of doing it in one way or another.

For me personally, it is to be admired that certain forms of magic are extremely easy for some of my readers, and even for some of my very few students, on the other hand, I also see that certain practices that for me turn out to be really easy, for others it takes a high level of difficulty, this is what I mean when I say that we are not all on the same level, none is above or below someone else, we all meet at different levels according to our study and practice, but it is never too much to take two minutes, ONLY TWO MINUTES, to do things and prevent a greater concern.

The esoteric shops are full of people looking for books to "exorcise" or "reverse a curse", because they believe that it is about that, and many times out of sorrow or distrust towards the most expert salesmen, they do not realize that they are really under the influence of a simple larva or some naughty spirit that is placed in its portal while playing with an Ouija or they walked calmly through the doors of some cemetery. Something that would have been easy enough to prevent and that would not have taken more than two minutes to complete.

To close

Being aware, nobody is forcing you, I do not expect (much less believe) to be offending anyone, but it is never too much to prevent, and I am simply offering advice, advice that seems very useful to me, and also, to me I would have served much that this advice would have repeated more often while growing, because stubborn, I often ignored and paid a real headache for it, especially my mother, who was the person who always came behind me , usually clearing the roots of the disasters that I did, often passing until midnight in front of his altar, trying to fix the constant problems that I caused, for which my friends and I, we spent whole nights without being able to sleep, as well as days whole of bad mood, with terrible migraines or constant physical discomforts.

If you have the option of doing something right, or do it fast, focus on doing it well, at least until you consider, and according to your own opinion, that you are prepared to do it your way, we all learn at our own pace, so do not be guided by the pace at which someone else advances, take your time to learn and do things well.

It is not an order, it is a piece of useful advice that will serve many in the future.

Blessings to all and lots of light.

I recommend it with closed eyes, for all good Practicing Wizard and all initiate.

I recommend it with closed eyes, for all good Practicing Wizard and all initiate. If you do not have enough experience in performing magical works.

If you do not have enough experience in performing magical works, the use of ‘Magic Circle’ or 'Circle of Protection’ is something necessary and essential that you must do, you are working with energies that you may not understand, your well-being is worth more than your pride.

Not to recommend to the initiates the use of the magic circle, it is at least from my point of view, something irresponsible, I have already seen too many “magical accidents” happen for people who believe that they will not invoke “nothing important” and the teachers end up arranging the disaster of its “students and students”.

The ideal is to work with the magic circle, at least until you have enough experience to be sure you can handle any “Situation” that may arise.

The magical world is full of dark spirits, old gods without names and creatures in search of naive proud to dominate.

In all my books and blogs I have taught different ways to perform and consecrate the magic circle, it is the most recommended, at least until you have the experience and power (which only come with years of practice) to be fully familiar with all the essences, spirits and energies with which you are working.

Even the most experienced teachers have been lamenting for pride or forgetfulness, not taking enough care, my grandmother says “only the fools and those who really do not believe in what they are invoking, do not take five minutes to take care of themselves ”, when you focus on manifesting your energy for some magical work or for any kind of invocation, you are throwing worms into the water with your fishing rod, many times nothing will happen, many times big and small fish will arrive, but many times You can (as in the Amazon) attract piranhas that are going to bite you, and then the fisherman has no choice but to say “I had to fish from the boat, and not get into the water”, it is magic, take into account that you are submerging in a plane of energy inhabited by spirits and small deities, but many of them, remain there more as a precaution (which is kept there) than of their own free will, and it is better in many cases, to leave them at l.

My honest personal recommendation, use the magic circle unless you are accompanied by someone more experienced like you, it will not take more than five minutes to complete it and more than five minutes to clean it. Ten minutes of dedication is worth more than months of work scaring away an evil spirit to whom you give the entrance, only out of pride.

Make use of the Circle, at least until you have many years of experience and the confidence that you can confront any situation that arises.

Maria Lionza, Queen of Witches & Fairies.

Maria Lionza

The Queen of Witches & Fairies.

In my native Venezuela, we have a folklore full of spirits and witches so complex that it does not even fit in the books, but it is also so popular that it has been studied in different universities of USA, Germany, and England by the level of devotion and ritual practice of Their respective followers.

One of these cults, perhaps the most notable is the cult of Maria Lionza. Maria Lionza (Yara) or "Maria de la Onza & Yara" is one of the most iconic characters in Venezuelan folklore, her cult dates back to a little more than 500 years and began to be commented on in the history books from 1515, Almost two decades after the discovery of America, although it was in the early 1900s that the cult came to light and began to be documented by anthropologists and historians.

The cult of Queen Maria Lionza began in the vicinity of the mountains of Sorte in Chivacoa (Yaracuy), where the indigenous people of the region met to worship at that time to their ancestors, a cult that still prevails in Venezuela, Becoming more and more popular.

The American anthropologist Wade Glenn of Tulane University has studied and confirmed that more than half of the Venezuelan population has voluntarily participated in at least one ritual in honor of Queen Maria Lionza, being she the central figure of Venezuelan spiritualism, Cult similar to that of Maria Laveau in New Orleans, USA.

The cult of Maria Lionza is of Indian origin, but in spite of it, with the passage of the years its figure has been modified to adapt it to the figure of a white woman with a gold crown on its head, a white or red rose In a hand (symbol of peace or love respectively) and a banner in the right hand, just where he has written his mission as divinity as "Protector of the waters and Goddess of the crops."

Maria Lionza is the goddess who lives in the leafiest forests of Venezuela, between the caves enchanted by fairies and the flocks of wild animals, always surrounded by subordinate and obedient spirits. As divinity symbolizes femininity, love as a universal principle and the force of life and rebirth. For many modern pagans, the Queen Mary Lionza is an incarnation of Venus or Gea, as goddess of peace, love and nature. Among its attributes are mainly magic and divination linked to the element of water, thunder, natural perfumes based oils, forests, fairy courts and mountains.

The cult of Maria Lionza has spread outside of Venezuela, leading her to be venerated in Chile, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Guatemala. And it has also been mixed with elements of Santeria, Spiritism, magic with fairies and traditional witchcraft to lead him to develop his own form of witchcraft, which has led him to know him in different countries like "The Queen of fairies", "Matriarch of the Witches" and "the Patroness of the 21 Courts".

All these honorific titles have been awarded to the blessed Queen Maria Lionza, not only for her thousands of miracles granted but also for her different attributes as an autochthonous deity of the Latin American region.

The Queen of Fairies

The cult around Queen Maria Lionza has always been linked in Venezuela and Colombia to the worship of the fairies, due in great measure to the indigenous belief because the aboriginal Indians of Venezuela believed in the magic presence of spiritual beings of enormous power that They lived in the forests and could change their shape. Aboriginal peoples originating in Venezuela, such as the Wayuu, the Añu, the Wanikua, the Pemones, the Yukpa, the Timoto-cuicas and the Yanomami (just to mention a few) shared the belief in life after the Death, the presence of spirits and fairies in nature, although their belief in fairies (even today throughout South America) prevails untouchable in the face of the European belief in fairies and their concept of the "good fairies" of diminutive stature And character wise or in some cases childish.

In Venezuelan native folklore, the fairies are spirits that inhabit and care for the forest, the lagoons and the rivers, they take human form and they can become all kinds of animals, they live mainly in the night and after the Sunset, they are extremely intelligent and they know All the secrets of witchcraft, attend sorcerers and witches in their rituals and usually do not wear clothes. In the native folklore of Venezuela, sirens are another form that fairies take to mobilize by the rivers, make deals with the sorcerers of the night in exchange for all sorts of favors and kidnap to babies that are not baptized.

According to the myth, Queen Maria Lionza, at that time a virgin maiden, daughter of a powerful Cacique, pact with the fairies in exchange for knowing the secrets of the night, the fairies, who at that time had mourned the ascent of his Reigned in the world of spirits, saw the young maiden in the incarnation of her queen, bestowed beauty on her and all the secrets were revealed to her, upon her death she became the queen of the forests of the Amazon, queen of the fairies and All the spirits of the forest.

Since then, both myths have been intimately linked, in fact, it is very common to say in Venezuela that "to make deals with the fairies", you must first request the permission of your queen patron Maria Lionza. It is also popularly believed that the practice of the South American shamans to place the children a bracelet of red thread with a hanging jet to "ward off the Evil Eye" was a teaching of the fairies by order of their Indian queen.

The Matriarch of All Witches

"To understand Santeria you must first understand spiritualism".

The above is a common phrase of every home practitioner in Venezuela, because in magic and witchcraft, as in everything else, there are no fast roads or short roads, and this motto comes from the order of witches, an order ( A Coven) of many others that are maintained under the devotion of the Venezuelan people.

In traditional Venezuelan witchcraft it is common to work with one of the 21 magic courts to ask favors, being Maria Lionza the main character of the main of these (not all) but of the largest, for which has been considered the Queen Of witches.

A common practice is to bring white flowers, tobaccos, and aguardiente to the river to be left there in the name of Maria Lionza, who in return would grant favors to her devout servants.

The Legend of the Queen of Witches

"Maria Lionza (Yara) was a maiden Nívar, delighted daughter of a powerful cacique of Nirgua. The Shaman of the village had predicted that when a strange-eyed, water-green-eyed girl was born, she had to be sacrificed and offered as a sacrifice to the Waterman, the "Great Anaconda," and if not, Extinction of the Nívar. But his father was unable to do so. And he had the girl in a mountain cave, with 22 warriors guarding her and preventing her from leaving. She was forbidden to see herself in the mirrors of water. But one day a mysterious force numbed the guardians and the beautiful girl came out of the cave and walked to the lake, discovering her own reflection in the water.

She was delighted with her vision. Thus he awakened the Water Master to the Great Anaconda, who emerged from the depths, falling in love with her and drawing her to herself. On Lake Maria Lionza and the mighty serpent, they celebrated a spiritual and mystical communion. When his father discovered the union, he tried to separate them. Then the Anaconda grew, became huge and exploded causing a great flood that devastated the village and its people.

From that day Maria Lionza became the protective Goddess and owner of the lagoons, rivers and waterfalls, protector mother of nature, wild animals and queen of love. The myth of Yara survived the Spanish conquest, although it underwent some modifications. In this sense, Yara was covered by the Catholic religion with the mantle of the Christian virgin and took the name of Our Lady Mary of the Ounce of the Meadow of Talavera de Nivar. However, with the passage of time, would be known as Maria de la Onza, or Maria Lionza.

The Mother Goddess

Since it was published in her 1939 essay "The Spiritualist Service to the Queen" by Gilberto Antolínez, there have been more than 25 different accounts of the cult of Maria Lionza in Venezuela, all of them very popular in the circles of witches and Venezuelan spiritualists.

All these different accounts tell the same story of the myth of the Queen of fairies from different points of view, all concluding in the rise of the young maiden as queen of the Indians and protector of their devout witches.

The Venezuelan Trinity

As in most of the religions that have emerged from the Indo-European period, a trinity patron of the pantheon is often found, the case of Venezuela would not be the exception.

Maria Lionza is the central character of the Venezuelan trinity that represents the Latin culture of that time, known as "Las Tres Potencias" (The Three Powers) made up of blacks, Indians, and white Spaniards. In this case, the trinity is conformed by the Queen Maria Lionza, the famous "Cacique Guaicaipuro", a Cacique of the Caracas and other tribes that strongly opposed to the invasion of the Spaniards, and "El Negro Felipe", a soldier during the wars of Independence from Venezuela.

The courts

In the Venezuelan esoteric cult, the so-called "Three Powers" form a spiritual council of great power that governs a magical universe full of spirits and fairies divided in a total of 21 courts that assist the witches in the accomplishment of their magical works.

The main courts of Maria Lionza are:

  • The Celestial Court: Led by Jesus of Nazareth and represented by the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it is conformed by all Catholic saints.
  • The Venezuelan Indigenous Court: This order is presided over by Queen Maria Lionza, the Cacique Guaicaipuro and his sister India Cari Cara, is made up of: caciques, cacicas, and Indians.
  • The Black Court: Directed by El Negro Felipe and la Negra Matea, is conformed by the souls of black slaves, witches, and sorcerers with colored skin.
  • The Liberating Court: Presided by Simón Bolívar and General Francisco de Miranda, conformed by those who led the revolt against the Spanish crown.
  • The Court of the Juanes: Conformed by various figures of Venezuelan folklore: Don Juan del Tabaco, Don Juan del Dinero, Don Juan de los Caminos, Don Juan de los Suspiros, etc ...
  • The Medical Court: Led by Dr. José Gregorio Hernández (El Venerable) and conformed by the souls of doctors and nurses. It is a very popular order that is invoked to aid in healing processes.
  • The Shaman's Court : Led by the Great Nicanor Ochoa Pinto Morillo (the sorcerer who cures and kills in 24 hours).

The sculptor Alejandro Colina immortalized her for the world as a naked athletic musculature woman, an Indian Caribbean Goddess on a tapir (male tapir, worshiped by indigenous tribes), and with outstretched hands holding a female pelvis bone (Symbol of fertility) on her feet the tapeworm crushes snakes, symbols of envy and selfishness.
