Osemma, Venezuelan Folklore VI


Osemma

Yukpa god of agriculture. It was very long hair, covered with flowers and corn kernels. Since he did not speak the Yukpa language, he used an interpreter squirrel. He lived with the tribe for a long time, teaching them how to cultivate the land and when he finally left, the Yukpa say that it got so small that the earth swallowed it up and the first tremor happened.
