Play 2017 + new moon in Capricorn + Jupiter in Libra & shooting stars

Play 2017
+ new moon in Capricorn + Jupiter in Libra & shooting stars

Hello dear readers, we are about to enter the 2017 after two brief approaches in these months, the first was Samhain (All Hallows Eve) that many celebrate as the traditional "Pagan New Year" and is the first step to the new annual cycle, The second was the Winter Solstice with which much of the North celebrates the end of the old year, for it is tradition for us to represent the rebirth of the consort God (or the Solar God, depending on tradition) during the coming of winter .

Now that the doors are open to 2017, we have to take the first step, that will arrive on December 29 with the new moon in the Astrological Sign of Capricorn. The firmness, discretion and perseverance of this sign announce us and warn that it is time to step carefully and not to take mayor risks. Do not forget that the new moon is the time to recharge the batteries, put our documentation in order and watch with real attention what is happening around us.

In this same date we will have the Moon, the Sun and Mercury in the same sign of the chimera, good Luck for us Capricornians that we will have to our main stars in our astral house (except Saturn that is in Sagittarius for the moment). It is a period of several days that influences all living things on Earth, it is time to find equilibrium and balance with the new moon and be discreet with our projects for the following year, as 2017 is about to begin.

We will start this 2017 on a Sunday (Sun Day) with the moon in the Astrological sign of Aquarius (a good omen for all those entrepreneurs who seek to venture into new lands) and mercury retrograde (as usual), the ruling planet of travelers and Communicators will maintain this retrogradation until Sunday, January 8, when it is put directly to only four days of entering the house of Aquarium.

With the Sun and Mercury in the sign of Capricorn we will start a prosperous new year that predicts strong changes in the political aspect around the world, the indifference of Capricorn will become visible in the way of communicating of the political leaders who will give more to speak in This year than in the previous ones, not to mention a predictable temporary (but of major repercussions) break in international relations, mostly between South America, North America and much of Europe.

The influence of retrograde Mercury will be noticed this year in two important aspects, in the field of Health, where despite all our medical advances, we will see a serious setback in the form and quality of distribution of the same, and in the field of international relations, this will definitely not be a good year for those big companies that rely heavily on their sales abroad, not to mention those who evade taxes, the latter, or at least their respective leaders will see how karma and the universe work hand in hand to collect with interest.

This year comes with a strong cane of support for all of us, a cane that we should take full advantage of, the strategic position of Jupiter in Libra that gave us so much to talk about during its entry in mid-year. The planet that distributes energy to create, balance and destroy, will act as a shield, but will not be a shield for all equitably, Jupiter's position in Libra is a shield that acts in favor of entrepreneurs, dreamers, small businessmen and creative traders looking for Somehow that "hook" that drives them to success, this is their year.

The position of Jupiter in Libra augurs us that it is generally a good year to add some blue and purple to our wardrobe. Whether man or woman, these colors together with gold will be our antenna to channel the positive influence of the giant gas planet and its Position in the Balance Sign. At the beginning of the year, on January 3 & 4 we will notice a more visible than usual "Quadrant Rain of Stars" that usually occur between January 1 and 8, that is, a rain of shooting stars, visible on hours before dawn that cross the sky to listen to our desires and take them to other corners of the c
Cosmos where they will receive the stellar energy necessary to become reality.

We have already crossed the mystical winter solstice, that has marked a real before and after in the compass, it is time to take new steps and rise up with eagerness to create something new, this is the moment, there is no time for later.

To start the New Year with a good foot do not forget to have the fridge filled (symbol of abundance), high denomination bills in the wallet and wear the traditional yellow underwear (to attract prosperity), place a piece of crystal quartz in the right pocket to make the right decisions in the coming months, a piece of pink quartz under the bed sheets to attract a loyal and honest lover, a piece of jet dangling from the neck to remove any obstacle earlier in the year, a piece of amber next to the window to call the money, yellow flowers in the kitchen so that we never lack the money to satisfy our needs, and a little salt and pepper in the door frame to chase away any negative entity that wants to hamper our projects this New year 2017.

If you live in a delicate health condition, either a difficult recovery or an illness, fill a bag of green cloth with dry roots of sagebrush, marjoram, anise, peppermint, sun-dried sunflower petals and a small silver coin, perfum this amulet with a few drops of marjoram essential oil or wonder flower every Wednesday night and keep it under the bed unopened.

November, Full Moon in Taurus 🌕 ♉️

NOVEMBER FULL MOON

Mourning Moon & Beaver Moon

The full moon of November is the penultimate moon of the year, the months of greater magical power have passed by and now we prepare to face the coldest months of the year. November is named from the Latin word "novem" which means nine because before the Gregorian calendar this was the ninth month of the year. It is the month in which little goats were sacrificed in the name of the Goddess Isis to insure crops and good fortune in the coming days.

Traditionally the yellow topaz and citrine are considered as November gems, the flower of this month is the chrysanthemum, the colors associated with this month are pink, gray and teal. The animal totem guardian of this month it is the beaver, the scorpion, the hare and the antelope. The gems that you can bless this month are jade, coral, topaz, citrine and pink quartz The flowers and herbs with the most magical power this month are usually roses, peppermint, jasmine, carnations and lilies.

November full moon has powers to prevent evil and diseases, magic related to hunting animals and and magic to protect forests. This is also the month for invocations and deals with all kinds of spirits that remain grounded since Halloween, it is the month during which shamans and spiritism become more powerful than witches.

November full moon is called in different countries and cultures as the mourning moon, beaver moon, dark moon, the icy moon, the frost moon and the snow moon.

Full Moon in Taurus ♉️

Magic during Full Moon. That Lunar phase of great power, when the Moon is facing the Earth completely showing her lit face and illuminates the trails and fields with her divine blessing, is the time to perform physical, mental or spiritual maturity related rituals. This phase corresponds to the Mother Goddess, she blesses us with her power and promises of a new life, we perform all kinds of rituals in our group to strengthen our own magic or mental capacities.

That night we can perform invocation rites with an eye to summon Gods and Spirits, invoke the Moon Goddess and perform spells and manufacture talismans of great power, open portals to other worlds and produce all kinds of transformations in our life.

This Moon symbolizes the power at its peak, maturity and knowledge. It is the time to bless magic items and prepare concoctions that strengthen our powers, potions, love potions and visualizations. We must also take this Omens filled moon to perform divination rituals and study the stars.

The moon is so powerful that she has the power of transmutation, can transform a creature into another and change the shape of a witch in any animal, she can transmigrate the human soul to another state and even strengthen the oldest spells.

When the Moon is in earth signs like Taurus, Virgo & Capricorn, it is the ideal moment for magic that involves the element Earth, nature and plants,  the earth signs give us the power to cast spells that promote will and sympathy.

On the Moon of Earth we conjure gnomes and elves, those tiny but wise spirits of the forest and gardens. Coffee or green are the colors for candles that we use in the ritual space during this day, and it is preferable that this magic altars face North if possible.

Moon in Taurus, is best suited to perform magic that is related to self-control and will, spells that involve making decisions, changes, competitive spirit and those rituals to balance the personality,  free time, healings and physical and mental cures are issues to be addressed during the Moon in Taurus and also the development of ideas and projects.

During this Moon can perform trade-related magic, selling real estate, home protection, love and beauty, self-acceptance and prudence, we also perform in this Moon the proper rituals to combat materialistic greed, possessiveness, obstinacy and stubbornness, manufacture talismans channeling the power of the Earth and renewing energy.

Beaver Moon Healing Spell

At night of November full moon we will perform this simple healing ritual with powers of Mother Earth to heal our body's aches and pains. We will anoint a dark glass bottle (with lid) with natural oils of cinnamon, fill it with soil from seven different sites, a handful of peppermint, five small quartz crystals and a few drops of essential oil of myrrh or myrrh perfume, seal it tight and tie around a red string where we will tie seven knots, light a red candle with our name on it and pour candle wax on the bottle cap to completely seal it. Whenever you perceive any discomfort or pain light a red or green candle next to bottle to reactivate its healing qualities and keep it in a cool, safe place.

November little rite for Health & Love

It is time to renew the energies that we have exhausted during the year as well as health and feelings, for this ritual draw the corresponding magic circle, this time you can circle with a mixture of sea salt and rosemary. Burn a stick of lavender incense and an orange or dark green candle.

Place in a small cauldron or bowl a mixture with dried roots of Florence, lily, verbena and ginger, a few drops of essential oil of peppermint or lavender and, while reciting, proceed to light seven (7) white candles to symbolize the seven points energy connecting the astral body and the physical one. After reciting the incantation, burn the herb mixture like  incense.

“Out of my life and my surroundings everything that wounds me and hurts me, welcome be to my life everything that renews and strengthens me before all chaos.”

Samhain Has Arrived

Samhain Has Arrived

Samhain King has come and arrives escorted by a scorpion on his silver carriage, a carriage pulled by unicorns and adorned with silver fairies, and is so because he comes under the guidance of the crescent moon in the astrological sign of Scorpio.

We have reached an annual magical point of great power, the balance point between the autumnal equinox and the winter solstice, the point where witches become stronger and shamans are preparing their magic potion to open their eyes to the world that is facing their own eyes but is hardly seen.

The dark and cloudy cloak that maintains apart dimensions has begun to be pulled on both sides, from the gloom of midnight, and in the process, witches and sorcerers use their connections to the past, to collect favors and attract forces from other worlds, spirits of their deceased ancestors and relatives come to a mystical convention that will last until the next dawn.

We have just been through the beginning of the Moon in Scorpio, and with her, it's time to start from scratch, take a deep breath, analyze exactly what our goal is, what we are failing and we are doing well, and seriously face the target, it is time to take your spirit warrior as well as the scorpion and attack anyone who tries to crush you without much hesitation.

Moon in Scorpio invites us to turn away from those negative people who live only on problems, divert those energetic vampires who feed on our good vibes, and make a full reset of our daily agenda, time to organize and strive double.

We are in full celebration of Samhain, it is the night to honor all those who were here before us, do not hesitate sorting your altar, filling it with family photos, pay tribute to your dead and light candles to pray for them, help them soar and reach enlightenment, pray for your family, for those who are here and those who have left.

The sun and moon are completely aligned with the sign of Scorpio right now, and this in turn is receiving a powerful force from Mercury, do not doubt your ability to make your dreams come true, do not doubt yourself under any circumstances. Solar kings governing the sign of Scorpio (Mars and Pluto) are in the sign of Capricorn, Mars squares Uranus, the god of war and the King of heaven united under the same purpose, to open the clouds to help you rise while Pluto in alignment with Jupiter, king of the underworld and ruler of the cosmos inspire you to elevate a little more, open wings and feet off a bit of heaven.

Allow the magical spirit of Samhain to give you strength and inspire your way.

Happy Samhain & Moon in Scorpio.

Samhain is coming 🌙 for Elhoim Leafar

Samhain is coming to Elhoim Leafar

One more year is about to finish, you can feel in the air the delicious aroma of apples and pumpkins, pinches of cinnamon decorate all dishes and coffee cups, orange and black flags stand at the entrances of all witches and wizard houses, priestesses prepare their best clothes and polish their amber necklaces, while the oldest spirits in dresses with wings and feathers of crows and owls circle over the blessed homes spilling thousands of blessings.

Samhain approaches, the end of the year approaches, the new year approaching, it's time to light candles, burn incense and sweep with that old broom resting in a corner of the kitchen, magic is perceived more powerful with each passing day, ghosts and spirits manifest everywhere, it is inevitable to hear the sweet delight of joy and devotion of the deceased celebrating admiring their own graves in cemeteries, wine glasses and jugs of alcohol are spilled on the sacred soil, aromatic herbs and flowers seem to grow faster in every corner, every grave, every mausoleum in the cemetery, in each city, and the moon shines over them, sparkling her divine silver halo on the darkest nights.

An old year is gone and a new cycle begins, it is time to look back, deeper into ourselves and remember, in some detail, in what position and where were we exactly one year ago. The eve of all witches and all hallows is here, the true life cycle of nature and the moment the moon makes a "reset" of her energies, purification of the earth and all the inhabitants of it. It is time to admit our own mistakes, see how far we have come and analyze because we still there, we need and want to achieve more.

The entire universe is dressed in black to honor the mourning of a cycle that ends, an old year dressed in clothes from the past hunches and slowly turns away, forgiving step by step over time with his languid figure, a willow cane and that old hat with large wings as white as the hoary wisdom beneath it. It's time to honor the memories, to thank the entire cosmos, mourn for those who have left and advanced in the process, it is time to thank and smile all that has happened, it is time to understand the mistakes, understand the misfortunes and embrace a new future that is born. A new year begins, for witches and believers, for shamans and nonbelievers, among all the currents, who perceive a change in everything around them.

Old books seem to recapture youth on their pages of birch and eucalyptus, for wisdom always rejuvenates, the spirit of Samhain is the preserver of wisdom and the old caretaker of books and works that has seen everything and knows everything. Samhain walks among us in the form of a bent old man, sometimes also as a sweet old lady selling her oatmeal cookies on the street, or even as an innocent child running through the alleys.

Samhain is approaching, and like every year, we welcome him as a great deity, the spirit that guards the old days and the keys to the future hanging from his neck is present again, and will continue to come every year until the end of the times. Get ready to receive him again at home, with sweet pumpkin pie, apples covered sweet candy, potato cake freshly baked and... Never forget, a plate with fruits of all colors, dark brown like sweet night, orange circular pieces with honey, large jars of wine and those old glasses that have seen every family celebration from your hand.

Samhain approaches, Samhain is coming, the new Celtic year is starting and hopes sitting at the doorsteps of every home. Druids and mediums shake hands this magical night to communicate with the ancestors, witches fly higher, so high the tops of the great trees seem to be a dusty carpet underfoot, while between smoke snuff and incense, drawing ancestral faces in each mirror, come shamans honoring those who have died and spilling wine on the floor to help them to cross to a breathtaking astral world full of light and wonderful colors that are beyond the understanding of our eyes.

Samhain approaches and walks among us, between our homes and is present with his old smile between each of our dreams, makes communion with the spirits and souls of our ancestors while his fairies fly around and above his head tangling between his long hair and playing with his horns, he departs with an old friend, an old year, to that part of the world where the past never dies and fairies are born.

An old year has departed and a new year arrives, begins to renew our magic, our spirit and our dreams, which in this new year will come true... See you again in a year when Samhain comes back to take this newborn son, then aged, and leave with us another new son.

Happy Samhain & Happy Pagan New Year... Blessings

Hunter Moon or Blood Moon

About My First Book - Wicca! Love & Soul! for #PoweredByIndie

My First Book - Wicca! Love & Soul

Years Writing, Years Dreaming, Years Thinking and so many years doubting, I finally decided to risk it, I decided to challenge myself, and stop asking me Why do it? And start asking Why not? Each day we get up in the morning is one more risk in our lives. Since we get outside to work we face bravely each day the news, the delinquency, the diseases and several crisis, but if we can fight against it every day, why not take a risk and go beyond?.

Why not dream and give the best of ourselves? Not for others to see us, on the contrary, we don't have to prove to anyone what we can do, the only one you have to prove it to is yourself, so I took a decision, gather the most convincing of my material and finish it, and now here it is in your hands. I proved to myself that I can reach my goals, I can self motivate each day, carry out my projects and share them with people who will bring out the best of it.

There I was 7 years ago when I decided to start this project, correcting books by other authors, inquiring into formulas and implementing hundreds of advices; some of them very good, others just filling ink in a book devoid of any meaning; and telling myself “if I had written it, I would have made many corrections before publishing” without realizing that those old notebooks and personal agendas in a drawer filled with pages marked in full color with recipes, formulas, incantations, spells and astrological studies could become someday my cover letter, dozens of notes and pages written by someone with too much time and desire to devote himself to such a friendly project.

I've had what I myself consider to be positive career in astrology. When I started in my early studies of Tarot, with teachers and classmates insisting weekly in personal consultations, favors for favors, I used to share formulas and secrets with a certain Ms. that sold amulets half a block from school, whom I met to share notes, books and stories full of folklore. She was a wise woman, just like my mother from whom I learned much of what was my foundation to develop my own formula and so many teachers in various groups and covens where I belonged in the city.

I also learned from those classmates whom I shared with in the school breaks, exchanging (with them also) notes and calendars with astrological dates marked. Between these notes and the books that I used to borrow from my mother's small but very complete library, I built for myself step by step a fascinating idea of what's really hidden right in front of our nose, and like that I learned to seeing it and living it, turning my faith into a lifestyle.

There were always those who mocked or complained. Some classmates branded me as arrogant, strange or just blatant, as I was out there sharing formulas behind each school notebook, and meeting with study groups of astrology and Wiccan white magic on weekends. Other treated me simply as "weird", that has never kept me awake. The “alien feel” should not alter us while we are doing what we love. The critics don't kill, and everything that doesn't kill you only strengthens you.

After three years of learning, I got transferred to another school, and this gave me the opportunity to learn new people and sneak between teachers.

I studied all the books of metaphysics and Feng Shui that came into my hands, I learned to believe and visualize my own Inner Light. These books taught me to protect me from the miseries that others may wish upon me. These new teachers showed me the books on psychology, studies of Freud and that jumble of modern ideas we call "Sociolinguistics programming" that can also be really important to know oneself. One can not achieve Enlightenment without knowing the Darkness withing e and the origin of it.

And thus the year went by, studying, knowing, practicing, learning and, most importantly, making mistakes repeatedly, for we learn more from mistakes than from advice. I have taken notes on everything. I've written any thought to cross my mind and, after much work and practice, here I give the results, as clear as polished glass and realizing that this is only a first step, as I have much more to learn in this elaborate and complex facts collected daily we call life.

Retrograde Planets Attack! / September 2016

Retrograde Planets Attack! / September 2016

We face a wave of retrograde planets right now, so be attentive to the moods, self-esteem slumps, accidents at home, fights in the office and misunderstandings that may go further than expected.

Mercury Retrograde

From August 30 to September 27 affect our ability to communicate and express our ideas, numbs the short-term projects and forces us to evaluate long-term projects, makes us doubt our own abilities and those of people around us. Keep calm.

Neptune Retrograde

It's retrograde from June 13 to November 19. It slows our ideas and inhibits what we want to undertake. The ruler of the seas puts into question our tolerance for change and as he alters the ocean waves, he also alters our mood from one moment to another without right to reply. Take a deep breath.

Uranus Retrograde

From 29 July to December 29. The ruler of an ancient cosmos is known for its quality to reach and impose order, its retrograde affects our emotional capacity, cluttering our ideas, putting our time against ourselves and leads us to act impulsively. The ruler of heaven unfolds bad luck and breaks the balance. At the end of his retrogradation traces of his presence persist for several days causing disorder in every aspect of our emotional life.

Pluto Retrograde

From April 18 to September 26. The lord of the underworld and all that escapes from our own vision, is known for being who transforms us from the deepest and most intimate part of ourselves. The coldest and less eloquent planet of the Milky Way leads to a mess of thoughts that puts into question our own ideas and builds walls around all what we want to build. This is no time to doubt, it's time to take charge and stay calm.

Ceres Retrograde

From August 31 to December 9, Ceres is in the process of retrogradation, right now the goddess of motherhood whispers in your ear "hey, calm down.” It is not a good time to make accelerated decisions, the queen of the asteroid belt, Ceres, plays with luck watching every step you take, spilling her cup of blessing on decisions taken with some calm, and throwing to the distant ravine those decisions which seem undesirable in her eyes. Consult with the pillow.

Chiron Retrograde

From 27 July to 1 December. The planetoid of the centaur and mythological doctor usually guides us by the way of more spiritual learning, this slow pace particularly affects the air signs and earth, while the water signs and fire will not escape his effects, but these will be perceived to a lesser extent, Chiron invites us to dig a little more into our defects and what we do not want to assume, it's time to take our responsibilities and organize them before the end of this year, not to drag unfinished projects until next year.

Palas Retrograde

One of the biggest asteroids in the solar system is retrograde from June 21 to October 17, this magical object in the asteroid belt is usually responsible for many misunderstandings, especially among women, logically to be the most elegant and one of the most emblematic regents of modern femininity (with all due respect to Venus) and at this very moment her decelerated step takes away a bit of serenity and calm from us, do not be surprised if you lose your head more than once during the early Autumn and the arrival of Samhain (Halloween night), it is time to drink a sweet chamomile and breathe very deeply, for the next few weeks will seem slower than usual irritating.

If you wish learn new ways to fight the retrogressive effects of planets beyond stay calm and do yoga, do not hesitate to follow me in your favorite social network ( Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Google + / Tumblr ) and do not miss any details what I will be sharing soon.

The Sorcerer's Bottle

The Sorcerer's Bottle

The sorcerer's bottle or spell jar is an occidental form of magic that has kept relevant for more than 500 years. Today there are many versions of this formula that consists in reproducing a spell inside of a jar an bury it to avoid it to be destroyed or weakened. It is Regrettable, but this form of magic and sorcery is often used in black magic to cause harm and illness, but if you know how to use it, it can be pretty helpful.

Witches who are dedicated to spreading the evil tend to fill liquor bottles with needles, pins, animal blood, hair the person they wish to bewitch, curse the spell and bury it in a soil that has not been consecrated as an offering to their demons and kill their enemies promoting illness and disease to cause death. On the other hand those who are dedicated to doing good have our own much improved version, combining the principles of traditional witchcraft with elements of modern white magic to achieve diverse results, either for our own welfare or that of others.

To make a bottle of spells to protect you from all evil and all sorts of curses, fill a bottle of preferably dark glass with two or three personal items. You can include in the mix some hair and nail clippings and the following herbs, dried root marjoram, fennel, honeysuckle, narcissus, rue and star anise. Finally, fill the bottle to the top with equal parts water and white wine.

Once the bottle has been filled close it properly and light a white candle. Anoint the bottle top to bottom with essential oil of marjoram or honeysuckle and completely seal the nozzle with hot wax of the same candle. To finish it, tie a cord or ribbon white around the neck of the bottle and bury it, preferably in a private garden or a nearby park.

We also have the spell bottle for love, following the above procedure but this time is mandatory to use a bottle of wine. Add your personal items as well as equal parts of vanilla, cinnamon, verbena, vetiver, orchid, jasmine and lavender. Light a strawberry or roses scented candle and use the wax of it to seal the bottle, tie a red ribbon or cord around and bury the spell with a pink quartz and a white rose.

There is a variation of the above formula, spell bottle for love done at the beginning of a month. A glass or crystal bottle filled with fresh flowers orange, apple seeds, redbud leaves, rose petals five tulip bulbs, a picture of you and the loved one another and both hair cuts. Fill the bottle to the top with oil olive or orange essential oil, cover completely the bottle with a red cloth and tie it with blue ribbon. Bury the bottle in a flower garden or deep into the shore of a river.

If you wish to perform a sorcerer's which consecrates a site against all types of spells and curses, you must bury during a new moon night a bottle you have pre-filled with dry parts of birch, cedar, dill, verbena, bay and aconite. Seal the bottle with a cork that has drawn the mystical symbol of the pentagram and wax from a purple candle.

Another method is the spell bottle to attract good luck. In this case we use a green glass bottle filled with clover, nutmeg and dried shells orange. Light a yellow candle to bless and seal the bottle. Tie the bottle with ribbon of gold or green color. I suggest in this case make a braid with green ribbon, gold ribbon and white ribbon to give more power to the spell.

And finally, the bottle to override the power of a warlock or witch. Fill a bottle of the darkest color you can get with hair or nail clippings of the warlock, needles, pepper, rock salt, garlic, juniper, dill and parsley. Fill the bottle to the top with soil from a consecrated land and close it. Light a candle violet and a black one, symbolizing the transmutation and power to overturn all kinds of negative work.

Proceed to seal the bottle completely with wax of both candles and tie with a black ribbon. Bury the bottle the deepest possible and from the next full moon all spells and curses cast by the sorcerer lost power.

Today smaller versions of these sorcerer bottles are sold on the market, already prepared and ready for use. Particularly I don't trust them, so I do not suggest buying them when it is not known if they were truly prepared by an expert or just a trader. Ideally make your won bottles or entrust them to a specialist in the subject matter well mastered.

Tradition in Modern Times

Tradition in Modern Times

It is very nice to see how traditions have slowly retaken the faith of humanity and even today we live in a society overloaded with information, social networks and thousands of electronic products and unnecessary applications covering most of our time, still the old traditions have been retained and have recently begun to gain more strength as community role.

It is true that the world is currently saturated with technological advances, many of them useful and others simply a vile scam from the corporate world to get the money from your pockets. Still, this ensures that many people seek more within themselves than they can find in a digital store, and it is there where the old traditions, steadfast, and vibrant as in the early centuries.

Honoring the old traditions not only satisfies you emotionally and spiritually, also gives you the opportunity to find your ancestors, sharing with them and honor them as they worshiped their deities and customs when they were part of this world of living things.

Traditions allow us to honor the past and all those who came into the world before us, but they must be taken with an honest respect and should be practiced at heart. Traditions are often colorful and cheerful festivities, others are quite often sad and nostalgic, but all in turn are a way to celebrate life changes, joy and humanity in different ways.

If you study the traditions of your people and your family and you carry out, you're rediscovering with your roots and your ancestors, but... When you study traditions of other peoples and countries in one way or another you become part of them, and you go to reacquaint yourself with the world.

August Magic & Full Moon In Aquarius 2016 ♒️

The August full moon is the eighth lunar month of the year, August, is named after Augustus, roman politician that was jealous of the fact that 21 years before Julio Cesar gave his name to a month. The Many Meanings of the Rio 2016 Olympic Flame

The Many Meanings of the Rio 2016 Olympic Flame

Yesterday August 5, we witnessed an amazing Opening Ceremony of the Olympics and, as usual, the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron was the highlight of the evening, but there is more to it than just a nice torch with a wind-powered sculpture. This post will explain the multiple meanings the Olympic Cauldron and Flame have acquired through the years until Rio 2016. We will start with the traditional symbols of modern day Olympic flame and then we will jump to the new ones adopted by Rio 2016.

An Allegory to the Origin of Civilization

The Olympic Cauldron is one of the core symbols of the Modern Olympic Games, along with the Olympic Flag, the Olympic Rings and the Olympic Anthem, but it certainly is the only one of these that actually has something to do with the Ancient Olympic Games in Old Greece.

As many know, the Olympic Cauldron holds the Olympic Flame, a fire that every four years travels the world from ancient Olympia to the Olympic stadium in the host city, but why do we go into all that trouble? It all has to do with the Greek Mythology. The Olympic Flame was originally lit in the arena, together with the Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Hera in Olympia. All of these lightnings were made by Virgin Priestesses using the fire from the everlasting flame in the Temple of Hestia. Hestia was the Goddess Protector of family, architecture, homey warmth and the cooking. After the sacred fire was handled to humans by Prometheus, the flame had to be kept. For this work the Virgin Priestesses of Hestia were raised from early childhood and were considered ones of the most important priestesses in all of Greece.

As mentioned above, the “Sacred Flame” has an important mythological meaning. In Greek Mythology, the fire was given to men by the Titan Prometheus. He had stone a flame from Zeus himself on Mount Olympus. When humankind got the fire, the first civilization could flourish, hence the fire represents the beginning of Greek civilization and hence, for them, all civilizations. That is why an everlasting flame was kept on the temple of the Goddess Hestia. It was said that that flame was lit from that original fire brought by the titan Prometheus himself, who stole it from Zeus, the king of the Gods and gave it to men. According to the myth, the fire was what fueled the growth of civilization, progress, arts and technology. Even in modern cities like New York, Prometheus' fire is represented as the fuel for progress.

The Olympic Games themselves were a fuel of development, art and culture. They were held in honor of the God Zeus and were the most important religious ritual of Ancient Greece and a heavily cultural festival. The Temple of Zeus in Olympia was crowned with the majestic Statue of Zeus, one of the 7 Wonders of the World. The games also attracted poets, sculptors, painters and architects, making it also one of the most powerful cultural engines of ancient Greece. Recall the statue of the Olympic discus thrower, for example.

A Symbol of Peace

Ever from the beginning, the Ancient Olympic Games symbolized a truce in ancient Greece. All the wars, riots and even crimes were held on pause for the duration of the Games, so the Greeks started relating the burning of the Olympic Flame with peaceful times. Everyone in Greece knew they could roam free the country and be safe as long as the Olympic Flame were burning on Olympia.

When the Modern Olympics were reinvented by Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1894, his dream was always to associate the games with peace and the hope for a better future. It was not until 1928, on the Amsterdam Olympics, that the perfect symbol for that message was found. These marked the first games to reinvent the Olympic Flame.

A symbol of Human Endeavor

The Olympic flame burning in Athens at 1928 was lit by an electric company employee, not very ceremonial. History had to wait to one of its darkest times for the flame to take another meaning. I am referring to Nazi Germany.

The games of Berlin in 1936 were held by a Nazi Germany in a failed attempt to prove to the World the “superiority" of Germany. Hitler himself preceded the games and he ordered to not held back on spectacle. These were the first games to be televised and broadcasted worldwide. The travel of the torch from ancient Greece to modern day Germany was included to “signify” their link to the Greek culture. This message never came across and was quickly debunked. The Olympics were then cancelled twice due to World Wars I and II until London 1948. This time around the Torch was also lit in Olympia and traveled to London, but now the relay of the torch was received with joy and was given the meaning of how Humanity can accomplish great things when working together instead of fighting each other, a message that fit like a glove to an Europe vastly destroyed by war. Ever since, the “passing of the torch” from one athlete to the next and the different ways the torch has traveled through the years has become a celebration of how humanity has come together and is capable of achieving greatness and travelling distances. The olympic games have from then on succeeded in moving he torch each time on larger distances and through more innovative ways to transport. the have included: On foot, on horse ride, on cars, ships, traditional canoes, airplanes, underwater, in a flaming arrow, through radio waves and lasers across the ocean. These accomplishments of carrying the flame has been highly televised and celebrated by all mankind on the months leading to the Olympics.

These are the traditional symbolisms of the Olympic Torch, now going back to the new symbolisms being adopted by the Olympic Flame from Rio 2016 and why it is one of the most important ones.

A Symbol of Love and Tolerance

Rio 2016 marks the first year that one of the many "Passing the Torch" moments has been marked by a same-sex kiss between two men, symbolizing tolerance, respect and love. Even in past games, the passing of the torch has always been a symbol of friendship between different races and different types of people but this is the first time the LGBT community is being represented right in the front page, specially in an industry recognized as highly homophobic, as it is the sports industry, and essentially after the Sochi Olympics were famous for being "homophobic Games" due to the fact that even showing a rainbow flag guaranteed a straight-to-prison card to athletes and spectators alike. This act of passing the torch through a gay kiss is the Olympic Games telling us "We are not Sochi, we celebate love".

A symbol of the Sun

All those trouble that has been taken to move the torch from Greece to the Olympic Stadium has a very important reason. As was explained above, the original flame came from the “Sacred Fire” but with the decay of Greek Civilization, that original flame is long extinct. The new games keep the spirit of that tradition with a twist. Every Olympic year, 12 new “Virgins of Hestia” reunite in the ruins of the Temple of Hestia in Olympia and light the first Olympic Flame of the games by concentrating sun rays in a mirror. Hence, the Olympic Torch comes not from a lighter or a spark, but by the Rays of The Sun, as a gift from Apollo himself. The ceremony is obviously less flamboyant than the Opening Ceremony, but it is rich in mythology. The Sun is the fuel that allows life on Earth and without it nothing could survive. The Solar Deities have been always important in human history, not only in Greece. (Remember Ra in Ancient Egypt or the Horned Sun God in modern Wicca.) The use of the Sun to light the Olympic Flame and the posterior travel of it is a metaphor of how we can use the natural resources and transform them into something much better but only if we work together. The organizers of Rio 2016 made the message even more important by shaping the Olympic Cauldron into a magnificent sculpture representing the Sun, a message that is more evident when you see the location of the torch in the Stadium is right above the model of the city that has been used throughout the whole ceremony, as telling you it is the Sun above Rio.

A Symbol of Sustainable Power Source

Rio 2016 is strong in its environmentalist message, but the Olympic Cauldron is even stronger on it. As the years go by, the Olympic Torch has become significantly larger and the flame has become also larger with every game. If not, try to remember the ridiculously tall cauldrons of Athens 2004 and Sochi 2012 games. London’s cauldron was composed of 204 different moving “petals” each one with its own connection to a natural gas source. Then Rio came and proposed what appears to be the smallest cauldron in the history of modern Olympic Games. On first glance when watching the ceremony, people started to get angry or disappointed until it was raised to its final position at the center of a Kinetic Structure that, s was said above, signifies the Sun.

The genius of this design is that by being the smallest Olympic Cauldron, it is also the greenest one, it uses the least amount of natural gas in modern history. You don’t need a big massive torch to give an amazing spectacle, and the mirrors in the rays of the kinetic sculpture even turned the Olympic Flame into a light spectacle that flooded the whole stadium like no other Olympic Flame has ever done. This movement of the sculpture is also green as it uses Wind Energy, not electricity. This cauldron proves that we can reduce the use of fossil fuels, we can use Wind and Solar energy and still have the most amazing olympic cauldron of all time, and that is also a Symbol of Hope for the future of Humanity.
